PadSpec is in pilot. Free to use while we work with design-partner firms. About the pilot

Pilot program

PadSpec is in pilot. It is free, and we are looking for design partners.

Every PadSpec account is part of the pilot: sign up, run your pads, and pay nothing while it lasts. Inside the pilot we also work directly with a small number of facilities engineering firms, our design partners, to make the rule library and the cost library match how they actually design and price a pad.

Drawings are issued for review and your engineer of record checks and seals. Estimates are labeled seed-only until your own rates replace the seed.

Everyone

Use PadSpec in the pilot

Create an account and your firm is in. No charge, no card, no application. We give notice before any fees apply, and nothing is billed without an order form you accept.

A few firms

Become a design partner

Run real pads in shadow with us, bring your rates and closed projects, and shape the libraries to your practice. Limited, by application, and also at no charge.

Design partner program

What the program is, and what it asks of a firm.

What the design-partner program is

A bounded engagement between PadSpec and a small number of upstream facilities engineering firms, inside the pilot that every PadSpec account is already part of.

The firm runs real pads through PadSpec alongside its current process; PadSpec works directly with the firm's engineers to make the rule library and the cost library match the firm's practice.

What it costs

Nothing during the pilot period.

PadSpec gives notice before any fees apply, and no fees apply without an order form the firm signs. Design partners get first access to launch terms.

What a design partner gets

The full product: the spec wizard, the P&ID set issued for review, the Class 4 estimate with its basis, the firm overlay for rules and costs, and the cost import for the firm's own rates and closed projects.

A direct line to the PadSpec team.

Priority on the content backlog: the firm's basins, purchaser gas specs, vendor curves, and labor rates get verified first.

What PadSpec asks

Three to five real pads run in shadow against the firm's own design and estimate.

Closed-project actuals through the cost import, so the library calibrates on the firm's numbers instead of the seed.

Senior-engineer time on the firm overlay.

Candid feedback through the in-app Send feedback button, which anchors each flag to the exact result row.

A reference once the results hold, with the firm's approval.

How success is judged

The honest test for a spec and estimating tool is shadow comparison.

On each pad: does the generated equipment list match what the firm's senior engineer would have drawn, line by line, with the differences explained by a rule the firm can read; and does the Class 4 estimate land inside its stated band against the firm's internal estimate.

The firm and PadSpec agree on that bar at kickoff, per pad.

Posture

Drawings are issued for review and watermarked; the firm's engineer of record checks and seals.

Estimates are labeled seed-only on every line until the firm's own rates replace the seed.

The firm's projects, overlay content, and imported actuals live in the firm's own organization and are never visible to another firm. Content the firm authors in its overlay is the firm's.

Apply

Apply to be a design partner

Two steps, and the first one matters: applying does not create an account.

  1. Create your PadSpec account if your firm does not have one. The account is what puts you in the pilot, at no charge, whether or not you become a design partner.

  2. Tell us where you work and what you would run first. We read every application and reply by email. Keep using PadSpec in the meantime.
